Motel Jetel

The bathroom won me over: it’s spacious, with two sinks, a big mirror, a very large shower, and a separate toilet. The whole place feels well built, from the sturdy front door to the windows, which shut out outside noise when closed. There’s a private card-access entrance and no shared corridors, so it feels like your own place. Inside, it’s open-plan rather than having separate bedrooms, with plenty of room and a clean, stylish look. A long bench and coat hangers are by the entrance. The ground-floor sleeping area has a high loft-like ceiling, and there’s another bed area on the upper gallery. I chose a bed upstairs right away, where you can look down over the space and watch TV. I stayed for more than two weeks, since I like long vacations, and explored the Beroun area, with its old castles, romantic ruins, and caves. It was just great, and I mean it.

The room was filthy, and the rude, abusive staff threatened to charge us if we weren’t out by 9am, even though the booking said checkout was at 10am. It ruined our holiday. They insist on payment up front, otherwise, they’d never get paid, and we’re now trying to get a refund.

Clean, spacious rooms. The price, though?
