So many hiking trails nearby, and this beautiful area is just two hours from Prague.

The rooms are tiny, and the two-burner cooking stove was gone. Soundproof windows don't help, either. The guesthouse is clean and pleasant, and the Šumava setting is lovely, but it sits right beside the main road to the border, with heavy traffic starting around 4 a.m. The available facilities were disappointing: an overgrown fire pit with big logs guests are expected to chop themselves, plus a rusty grill from Tesco that might suit two people at most. We didn't mind not having a TV, but if you want to watch something in the evening, you end up skipping through channels. We've been visiting Šumava for years and this was our first stay in Kubova Huť. In many ways, it was one of the weakest places we've stayed here.

We've been coming back for three years and are very happy here. The guesthouse is simple but nicely equipped and kept clean. I especially appreciate the dryer for ski boots, shoes and gloves. It's right below the ski slope, about 100 m from the lift, with the nearest restaurant right beside the lift.

The rooms now have split air conditioning that can also heat, so you can set the temperature to suit yourself. After the road noise really dropped, that was a welcome change. We still found the accommodation nice and very reasonably priced, with a kitchenette in the rooms. Earlier, the fairly busy road nearby meant you could hear trucks at night. EDIT 30.8.2020.
