Hotel U Kata

The history was a nice surprise: it turns out this is one of the oldest working krčma in the area, and fans of the KKD series may enjoy that connection. We came for the first time on February 14, and the receptionist greeted us with a smile. After a long day at work, that made check-in feel welcoming. Our room was roomy, with a strong, hot shower that felt especially good after walking around town. The coffee machine was a plus, and although the double bed was made from two mattresses, we had no trouble with it. We were next to the elevator but didn’t find it noisy. Breakfast was okay, with sausages, eggs, a few kinds of ham and cheese, vegetables, bread, and pastries. Dinner was much more of a highlight: good food and beer at a reasonable price, well worth it. Highly recommended.

The people were very competent, and reception spoke English. Some of the restaurant staff did too. It was good value for the location, with Kuttenberg and its attractions all reachable on foot. There’s enclosed parking, and they welcome dogs. A nice base for a short stay in Kutna Hora and the surrounding area.

I found the hotel staff friendly and helpful, and the parking was easy to use and felt secure. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast isn’t huge, but it covers what you need. I didn’t try the medieval-looking restaurant, though after my stay I imagine it could be a lot of fun. I was very glad I chose this hotel for my time in Kutna Hora.

The restaurant food was delicious, and the spa facilities were nice. I did find it odd that using the hot tub or sauna required a reservation and an extra charge. My room was clean, and I never heard the neighbors. I asked for another towel, pillow, and blanket since it was late October, but they wouldn’t provide them. As an American woman traveling alone, I felt safe, and the location was great. Mornings came with a howling sound, maybe a dog or a rooster, I couldn’t really tell.
