Hotel Šumava Inn

A good restaurant and friendly, helpful service make this a nice hotel. It’s just a few meters from a small ski area, with several kilometres of groomed cross-country trails nearby. A great fit for families and anyone who likes sports.

From booking to checkout, we felt very well looked after. I booked at the last minute, and the madame at the online reception patiently guided me through everything and helped me pay with my Benefit Plus points. On arrival we got a warm welcome, a beer offer from the restaurant waiter, and our room within minutes. A special thank you to the gentleman who looked after us throughout and served our meals. The Czech dishes came in large portions and reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking. Breakfast was amazing, with lots of sweet and savoury choices, even wine. The restaurant toilets had disinfectant and toiletries, too. I loved those extra touches. We’d booked the whirlpool, and had private time there with candles and roses. We hadn’t asked for special treatment, so receiving it automatically meant a lot. The staff were kind as well. I’d forgotten my charger, and the bartender offered to lend me his. The room was spacious, but we wished the heating worked so we could dry our soaked clothes after the rain. Even so, the stay felt magical, and the people were unforgettable. We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in the area!

The interior looked inviting, but after a long walk we were hungry and the wait put us off completely. It took about 30 minutes for anyone from the staff to show up, then even longer to get a menu. The waiter was rude and annoyed, and by then we’d lost any interest in eating there. We ordered one beer each instead. A different waiter brought them with the same attitude, and we left thinking we’d never come back.

The bedrooms are lovely, and the hotel itself is very nice. We also really enjoyed the restaurant, especially the breakfast. Some of the staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there, while others were thoroughly professional and should make the owners proud.
