A great little guesthouse.
Even though the guesthouse was fully booked, there was still room to park in the yard. I’d called just three days before we arrived, and the owner kindly managed to fit us in. She also showed us around and explained everything. The rooms were clean and nicely equipped, each with a refrigerator, and food is included in the price. For what we paid, I thought the value was very good, and I’d expected the price to be higher. A lovely place with a helpful owner 😊
Breakfast was ready at the agreed time each morning, so we could head out and explore afterward. Our room was clean and tidy, with its own bathroom and a TV. The guesthouse is in a quiet part of the village, away from street and traffic noise in the morning. The housekeeper was helpful, and everything went smoothly during our week there. We’d gladly stay again if we’re in the area.
The rooms look nice, and the guesthouse is in a pleasant location, but our week there was a frustrating stay. The walls are so thin that normal conversation carries from the next room. Only two rooms were occupied, ours and the one beside us, where Mrs. Blaníková put three older women who played loud music until midnight or 1:00, then turned the radio up at 7 in the morning. They ignored our requests to keep it down. When my girlfriend finally complained, we were told it was just one night and they would leave, so we’d have peace. I got the impression they didn’t want to move us to a room farther away because that would mean cleaning two rooms. It felt like the owners were tired of running the place and just in it for the money. Mrs. Blaníková welcomed us and initially gave us tips on places to visit, but after that we only saw her at breakfast. Mr. Blaník didn’t greet us; I saw him about three days later, when I asked about parking behind the house. Previous reviews described the owners as very willing to help, but that wasn’t our experience. The bill had to be issued three times, though they did apologize. The rooms weren’t very clean either. We only peeked upstairs, since we paid for two beds, but there was a lot of dust on the floor. The basic facilities are lacking, including a kitchenette, and breakfast doesn’t start until 8:30. We paid 550 crowns per person per night with breakfast. At a guesthouse we visit in the Giant Mountains, we pay 400 per person with breakfast and get much better quality: a lovely gazebo, common areas, a pool, and the owners even offered us a grill. We weren’t offered anything like that at the Blaník guesthouse. Pine needles we brought in stayed on the floor from Monday until we left on Sunday, though they could have been vacuumed up in a minute. It’s a nice-looking guesthouse, but I left feeling the owners no longer enjoy running it.
The interior is beautiful and has a real at-home feel, and you can see Mr. Blaník’s craftsmanship in it. The owners’ kindness, commitment, and readiness to help with guests’ requests put many luxury hotels to shame. I highly recommend staying here and exploring the many interesting places nearby. Big thanks from Michal and Dita from Brno.
