Hotel Galant

For a four-star hotel, I expected more help when I left some things behind in the closet. They hadn’t noticed them the day after I checked out, though I can’t say whether they check closets during cleaning. I had to arrange everything myself and contact a company to collect the items. I know forgetting them was my fault and offered to pay postage, but the hotel left me to handle the whole process. I’ve learned my lesson: don’t leave your things behind. The place itself was nice, but the service fell short of what I expected from a four-star hotel.

The stay and breakfast were nice, but on arrival we got an unpleasant surprise: after paying 250 euros for two nights, we still had to pay extra to use the pool and wellness area. For a stay at a wellness hotel, not being able to use the main facilities unless you pay more felt very unprofessional. I can’t imagine this happening at a good four-star hotel outside Czechia.

The rooms are spacious, the pool and spa complex are great, and the relaxation room is wonderful. Breakfast is one of the best buffets I’ve ever had. The restaurant waiters were very friendly, and there’s a wide selection of delicious local wines. Learn a little Czech before visiting Moravia if you can. English isn’t widely spoken, so I had to get by with German and my very basic Czech.

The only thing we liked was the satisfactory breakfast. We booked a triple room because my daughter loves swimming, and at check-in we were told we could use the pool until it closed at 8 pm. But at the pool, the wellness receptionist said children weren’t allowed after 3 pm. We went back in the morning, and while my daughter swam I wanted to use the sauna, only to learn that saunas are available after 3 pm. With a child, it’s impossible to use all the facilities. The room was boiling hot and had no air conditioning. I don’t understand how this hotel got four stars; it felt more like two.
