Hotel Ryzlink

This was our third stay at Hotel Ryzlink, and we enjoy it so much every time. It’s a lovely, smaller place where you can feel cozy, with friendly, helpful staff who greet you with a smile and really put the guest first. The rooms are very clean, the beds comfortable, and the grounds are beautifully set among vineyards. A bottle of wine and welcome drinks are included, which is always a nice touch, especially since the Fučik wines are so tasty. The food is very good too. On our drive to the Italian mountains, its position at the CZ/AT border, halfway to our destination, works perfectly. Hotel Ryzlink is marvelous! 🖤

There’s no elevator, and getting luggage up to our second-floor room was uncomfortable. We’d booked the hotel for its high rating and paid for the royal suite, its most expensive room. The complex is beautiful, with an amazing view, huge room, and huge balcony. The restaurant food was delicious, breakfast was good, and there’s private parking on site. But the reception woman was rude and spoke to us in a condescending way. On our first day, we found the shower had no hot water. I asked her to fix it the next morning before we went out. When we called that evening to check, she said, “I hope so.” It was clear nothing had been done, and the problem was worse. The water was freezing, and my daughters cried while showering. There are also no insect screens on any windows, despite the hotel being inside a winery with bees, flies, and other flying creatures. The next morning, a different and very nice person was at reception. After we described the unpleasant experience, she gave us a small discount and a symbolic gift. I wouldn’t recommend it at all!

It was about a 10-minute walk to the city center, and the hotel was clean. The manager communicated well, which was a plus. But for this price, and for a 3-star hotel, I expected more. We were on the ground floor with our dog. The room was quite small and felt hostel or dormitory-style, with no view. The wine fridge was noisy, and at night there were lots of distracting lights from switches, the TV, fire alarm, and fridge. The door always made noise when someone came into the hall. No kettle in the room. The restaurant only opened on some days and closed by 8pm, breakfast didn't start until 8am, and there was no open bar, just drinks in the fridge. On the last night it seemed we were alone in the hotel, with even the outside lights switched off. I've stayed in many kinds of hotels and apartments, and this one definitely wasn't worth the price.

The staff were hospitable, and there was a good range of local wines that turned out to be quite nice. It’s a nice hotel, well located near the castle.
