Hotel Koruna

We stayed in August 2024, and finding somewhere to park in the evening took quite a while. The hotel had no more than enough spaces for 10 cars total. Public parking by the entrance wasn’t cheap, and the bigger issue was that it accepted neither cards nor EUR cash, only Czech Krona cash. Then we spent quite a while looking for CZ krona in the morning 😁.

I liked that the bathrooms had bathtubs, which isn’t always the case, and every room I stayed in had a balcony, a big plus. The hotel also has free private parking for guests, which is rare in the middle of town. Rooms were clean and pleasant, breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. A reliable place to stay in Opava.

The manager can go into your room while you’re out without warning and take your personal things if she doesn’t like them. She speaks nothing but profanity, so if you don’t understand Czech, expect to be humiliated. The service was terrible and the interior disgusting. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I strongly recommend finding somewhere else so your mood isn’t ruined here.

Getting checked in was really difficult and took ages. The device they asked us to use wasn’t working properly and couldn’t read either our passports or ID cards, so we had to call the receptionist twice before she came to check us in the traditional way. The hotel is in the city centre, with large, clean rooms. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and varied, and the restaurant where it was served was nice. My only other complaint was the coffee: it wasn’t espresso, and they wouldn’t make one when asked.
