Kampus Palace

The room has two separate beds, desks, and a wardrobe, plus two towels and a small bottle of shower gel. Bring your own shampoo and soap, since that little bottle isn’t enough for a proper shower. It also gets hot inside, as there’s no air conditioning; we stayed in August. We paid about 30 dollars for one night, which made it one of the cheaper options in Ostrava for the quality. The hotel is on a campus beside the theatre in the city centre, around a six-minute walk from the square. A nearby palace restaurant serves breakfast and coffee, and reception told us about a 15% discount there. The reception staff were very friendly and had leaflets and maps of Ostrava. There’s also a mini bar where you can buy water or snacks, useful since many shops and restaurants close early.

There’s no breakfast, but you’ll find some really nice cafés and bistros downstairs in the building. I stayed one night in a deluxe apartment and loved it: a beautiful, very clean round-shaped room right in the city centre. Parking was free and guarded.

I stayed here while visiting Ostrava and thought it was a great place for a student. It’s very modern, with really nice furniture.

The room was clean, and there was plenty of space for two. The bathroom was also large and clean. The kitchen area is quite small, which can be a nuisance if more than one person wants to cook. You have to rent pans and pots for 20€, though plates, glasses, cutlery, and a cutting board are provided. We broke a glass, and the employee kindly told us it was fine and we didn’t need to replace it. For the price, it’s a really good place to stay in Ostrava, close to the main sights, buses, and trains. Just be aware there isn’t much to see, and on weekends there’s literally nothing to do. The city felt so dead that we took a day trip to Prague. I’d recommend the accommodation if you go to Ostrava, though I wouldn’t recommend the city itself because it’s incredibly boring, lol.
