Hotel Biograf

Breakfast was an impressive buffet, with practically everything you could want and a chef on hand for extra requests. The room was large and clean, with a fresh smell despite pets being allowed. It had a small fridge, a roomy bathroom, a huge tub, a hairdryer, and free toiletries. We asked for air conditioning, but the weather turned cold and rainy, so we didn't get to try it. They had the heat on for us instead. The reception lady was welcoming, and our room was ready just as requested. We were glad to find an elevator, too. The hotel is right in the center of Pisek, with plenty of street parking. It's free on Saturday afternoons and Sundays, and the famous bridge, museum, and lots of restaurants are only a few minutes' walk away. I picked this place in a pinch because our usual Hotel u Kaplicky had nearly doubled its room price from the year before. Turned out to be lucky. We'll be back in Pisek next year, and I'm already looking forward to staying here again.

The friendly staff were helpful, and they offered to heat up the sauna for me in the evening. The food in the restaurant was OK, too. The room and bathroom were clean, and the renovated hotel sits in the center of the lovely South Bohemian city of Pisek. Still, the furniture and its layout felt uninviting, and the restaurant furnishings weren't great either. I think the rooms could feel much more luxurious. It's not a bad place, but the photos online had led me to expect a bit more.

The location is great, and it's a nice hotel for this part of CZ. But it falls well short of what I'd expect from a place presented as fashionable. A lot of the furniture was damaged, and the carpet and sofa were heavily soiled. There was no air conditioning or mosquito net.

The worst part was finding that someone had been in our room while we were out. Nothing had been cleaned, and the intruder left his master key card in our room, so we're sure. On top of that, the TV didn't work at night, the heating made an awful noise that kept us awake, and we could hear the neighbor snoring very clearly. Very disappointing. There are plenty of other hotels in pisek, so I'd choose one of those.
