Pension Antica

The receptionist was nice and easy to talk to, but that didn't make up for an awful night. I was in Plzen for a three-day conference. After checking in one evening, I dropped off my bag and didn't return until 10 that night. When I brushed my teeth, I found the sink wasn't working. Then, around midnight, bugs were everywhere, biting me: on the bed, sheets, wall, pillow, and even in the towel. I was terrified and couldn't sleep or sit still. My whole body was burning and itching. I called the woman after waking in a terrible state, then rushed to my place to see a doctor. It was a shocking, overwhelming night.

For what you pay to stay in such a central spot, I found the place pretty satisfying as somewhere to sleep. It isn't a luxury suite, and the building and rooms are old. I can't deny that I felt a bit uncomfortable in the bed. One tip if you've booked here: ask if you need anything. The receptionist is great at her job and will help with problems, as long as you approach her politely and ask. That's just decent, civilized behavior.

The rooms were shabby and noisy, the mattresses hard as wood, and the bathroom smelled a bit. Reception was shut all afternoon, so we had to phone the owner to find out how to collect the keys from a nearby casino. At least the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Even arriving around 9:30 in the evening was no problem, and the staff were really helpful. Jana, the manageress, was a lovely woman who couldn't do enough for us. It's basic accommodation, but clean and tidy. Breakfast was very nice, and they arranged secure parking for my motorbike. I'd recommend it.
