Astory Hotel

For a holiday, the price was amazing, and the staff were friendly. Our room was bigger than I'd imagined, too. We stayed one night on New Year's Eve, and the location couldn't have been better.

The hotel is handy for both the city center and main train station, and the Wi-Fi and download speed were decent. But I can't recommend it because of the condition of the place. The cups and drinking glasses were filthy, and when we asked them to vacuum, clean the bathroom tiles and sink, and fix the leaking tub, staff just seemed to roll their eyes and did nothing. It made me think they already knew how neglected the hotel was, including the hallways and other facilities. Breakfast also left me with stomach pain that ruined my day. The bacon and eggs were far too fatty. Don't eat it unless you want to be bent over in agony on the toilet, lol. Our room was roomy, with a nicely sized bed, but sparsely furnished. The seats had stains, and there were no free outlets because lamps were using them, so you'd have to unplug a lamp to charge a phone or laptop. The floor hadn't been cleaned when we arrived, and I'm 90% sure they hadn't prepared it for new guests. There was dust and grime on the desk and table, maybe from a day or two ago, and dust scattered across the floor. It clearly hadn't been vacuumed. As a cleaner, I found the rooms gross. Hygiene should be better for a 4 star hotel, especially one aiming to attract foreign tourists. Maybe it's clean by Czechian standards, but it wasn't for me. The bathroom tiles felt greasy underfoot, and you could see shoe marks and footprints. It hadn't been cleaned properly either: long black hairs were in the sink, and the corners were dirty. The tub leaked near the window, and with no shower curtain, water went everywhere. The floor got wet quickly, so we had to dry it and lay towels around to soak up big puddles. The tub itself was slippery and greasy too. I wondered if they use too much cleaning detergent, causing the greasy feel on the tiles and tub. Just a gross, bad hotel, and not worth spending 100+ eu.

I stayed for three nights and had a negative experience. There was a lot of dust on the shelves, and the furniture needed a thorough cleaning. The bathroom was okay, but the WC was leaking. They don't use the dishwasher.

The location near the train station was convenient, and the room and bathroom were clean and decent, meeting all my expectations. I had to leave early, so I can't say anything about breakfast. For me, it deserves five stars.
