Akát Pension Guest House

I spent about a week here to get some quiet and a break from central Prague, and ended up getting quite fond of the place. It has an unusual but appealing coziness, with a homely, familiar, human feel instead of the polished feel of a chain hotel. The setting seems somewhere between suburban and small town, and it’s a bit off the beaten path. There are lots of old decorative things around; they’re a little antiquated, but add to the charm. A cat wanders freely through the hallways and the restaurant next door. Staff were generally pleasant. Nearby bars and the occasional loud group of guests could make it noisy sometimes, but otherwise I found it relaxing. I’d recommend it if you’re after a pleasantly unusual stay.

The rooms are standard and the staff are friendly. Parking is available for an okay price, and the complex includes a restaurant where you can sit outside. Super!

It was a pleasant stay, with friendly staff and a very good location. I’d definitely recommend the hotel. It’s a shame there isn’t a water fountain.

There’s no air conditioning, which would have been nice, and our room looked out onto a 24/7 gas station. Local taxis washed their cars there even at 2 am, so it’s not a good room for sleeping with the window open. The pension is well located, though, and you can get around on foot or by bus, tram, or metro.
