It's very quiet, even though you're only a short walk from Prague castle, Loreta and a tram stop. The rooms are large, and the price is very affordable. Zlata Hruska restaurant and an outdoor theater are next door, while breakfast is served at the cafe beside the building. There's no reception desk: you get your room key and look after yourself, much like living there. Excellent location.

This two-storey half-timbered house, with its annex and enclosed walls, dates to around 1683. Emperor Rudolf II invited Tycho de Brahe, the famous Danish astronomer, to Prague. Brahe, also known as an astrologer and alchemist, stayed for a time at the inn called By the Golden Griffin. The house has a quiet, beautiful atmosphere, and the accommodation was great. The historic feel of the surroundings stood out, especially the original vault in the bathroom. Tycho Brahe also lived in this house.
