Hotel Avion

We found the staff friendly and helpful throughout, and they let us check in an hour early, which we really appreciated. The room was spacious and warm at the end of November. Breakfast was simple, with salad, eggs, cereal, bread, tea, coffee and juice to choose from. We also had lunch at the large restaurant beside the hotel, which is part of it, and found the prices really good. The neighbourhood was very quiet, with a tram stop two streets away. We picked the hotel because it sits between the airport route and the city centre: the metro and the first bus stop are both about five minutes away. Coming back from the old town, where we'd taken the metro and then a bus, took us only 15 minutes.

I couldn't stay more than half an hour. The room was extremely hot, with no air-conditioning, refrigerator, or anything besides a phone. The bed barely fit, so getting out meant sliding to one side, and the bathroom was about the size of an airplane bathroom, with a tiny shower. When I went downstairs to explain that the room was too small and hot, the staff were rude and offended, and refused to refund me. They just told me I could get the hell out. The rooms are awful. Don't ever stay here.

We were leaving early, so reception prepared breakfast packages for us. One was supposed to be vegetarian, but it turned out not to be. A lamp in our room was also broken. We had a beer in the hotel restaurant. The service was good, though the prices were a little high. We wanted a smaller place with easy airport access, and this did the job for one night. I'd recommend it for a short stay.

Rooms are a good size, clean, recently refurbished and practical. There's no kettle in the room. Breakfast is fairly good, though it could use more variety. It's a seven-minute walk to the metro, and the 59 bus runs to and from the airport.
