My family and I had been looking forward all summer to a magical Christmas trip and a stay in a beautiful apartment. I booked this one back in August, but in mid-November the owner, Alina, messaged me to say they were closing for renovations on December 1st and asked me to cancel. Suddenly I had no place to stay in a foreign country, and with the trip so close, I couldn't find another apartment at the same price. I was shocked and confused. I did find and book something similar, but it cost 100 euros more. Alina said she'd refund the money if I cancelled the reservation myself, but she hasn't replied to my messages, and I couldn't cancel on my own without facing a fine. I emailed and called Booking.com for a week. Thanks to them, I eventually got the booking cancelled without a penalty. Their operator explained that I shouldn't have cancelled it myself, since the owner was responsible, especially as their closure was the reason I couldn't stay. That whole week was incredibly stressful for my family and me. We were trying to sort out the cancellation, find a new place for Christmas, and deal with losing money, after making our plans in the summer and hoping for an unforgettable holiday. I don't recommend these apartments or this dishonest owner. Be aware that you might get a message right before your trip asking you to cancel, followed by wishes for a wonderful time in Prague. There was no refund and no response. That's mean.
