We arrived to find the power out, and there was water leaking from the boiler onto the kitchen cabinets, electrical outlets, and floor. The leak seemed serious, with possible water damage, fire, and carbon monoxide risks, since detectors like those aren’t required here. We asked reception to send someone, explaining our concerns for the whole building as well as ourselves, but were told staff only worked from 8:00 to 23:00. We got no help from the owners. We spent until 4:00 am looking for somewhere else and calling Booking.com, but had no choice in the end but to sleep there, with the windows open and the water supply to the kettle shut off by us. We were afraid to sleep. At 8:00 am someone arrived and installed a new boiler without telling us first. This came after we’d already been given the wrong apartment. We’d booked a superior apartment with a balcony but got a smaller one. Reception was available 24/7, and when I called, they insisted the booking was fine and we’d received what we reserved. The bedroom had no curtains, the doors didn’t close properly, there weren’t enough outlets for our phones, and the building was very noisy.
