Czech Inn

I booked one of the premium dorm rooms, and it's one of the best dorms I've stayed in. Everything is close by, from food and public transport to supermarkets. The rooms are fresh and well maintained, and there's a great bar downstairs where events take place. The only downside was having just one toilet for ten people, even though it was a premium dorm. Otherwise, nothing to complain about.

The tram noise is the one thing I’d keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper. I stayed on the other side of the hotel and had no trouble, though. Czech Inn is right by a busy tram line, with frequent, punctual service that gets you around Prague in about 20 minutes. It’s a little beyond the Old Town tourist area, but I found the location ideal. My private room and bathroom were comfortable, with a towel warmer, hair dryer, heating and AC, and everything else I needed. I was there for three nights, and the price was much lower than a higher end hotel. There’s a café and common area downstairs, plus a bar in the basement, so you get both privacy and a hostel’s social side. Alex was incredibly helpful and fixed a problem with my room right away. Two friends from the US who’d stayed here recommended it, and they were spot on. I wish I could’ve stayed longer. If I return to Prague, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

The location and decor were lovely, and my room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, but the bathroom situation was awful. When I arrived, the toilet was filthy with feces, used condom wrappers were on the shower floor, the sink was dirty, and there were semen stains on the walls. In the female dorm, people from room "A" were having sex in the bathroom, and they let girls from outside the dorm use it too. It was horrible to use a bathroom that had been used for sex and left dirty, and I felt unsafe thinking I might run into strangers in the women's dorm. The laundry service was another problem. With help from reception, I used a dryer that ruined my clothes. I had to throw away a hat, gloves, a new sweater, cotton T-shirt, socks, underwear, and a towel. Housekeeping also washes the dirty cleaning rags in the same washers and dryers guests use for their clothes. Absurd.

Getting to the city center was easy by metro or bus, and the neighborhood was quiet enough for a good night's sleep. I found the breakfast varied and tasty, and fairly priced too. The room was fresh and clean, with enough space to store luggage and personal things. Staff were welcoming, and getting my bedroom was quick and smooth. I had a really good stay at Czech Inn and recommend it.
