Darwin Hotel Restaurant

The restaurant and its own brewery were wonderful. I had the best meal of my 10-day vacation in Czechia there. I stopped for one night on my way to Lipno. The hotel seems to have been updated recently, and the rooms were clean. It’s right by the road, but parking wasn’t a problem. There isn’t much to do nearby, just a small sleepy town. No air conditioning, so I imagine it could get stuffy when the weather’s hot.

Petr made us feel welcome and was a great manager. The room and bathroom were a good size, and there’s parking out front. The restaurant and bar were good, with decent prices. It takes about 30-40 minutes to get into town by public transport, but it’s cheap and easy. A great place to stay in Prague.

Getting there by bus from Smíchovske nadrazi took about 10 minutes. The staff were really friendly, and breakfast was delicious. Our room was clean and quiet too. I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Darwin and will definitely come back next time.

I picked this hotel for the free parking and don’t regret that choice. The hotel itself is nice, but the breakfast is just cheese, ham, bread, yogurt, and coffee, with no hot food or eggs. I was also disappointed by the beer and food. The beef tartar was the best of the dishes I tried at Darwin, while the Svíčková was a disaster. If Kozel Dark here had been my first taste, it wouldn’t have become my favorite beer. I know it from when it was fresh, with that distinctive creamy aftertaste, and this didn’t live up to that. Those food and beer experiences ended up dominating my impression, so I could’ve rated the place higher.
