Design Merrion Hotel

A decent hotel, but there’s no reception, no lockers, and you may not see another person during your stay. The access code won’t work before check-in time. You also have to take out the rubbish each day, and there’s no cleaning service.

The Manager, Jaroslav, was friendly and very helpful, and breakfast was tasty. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had a very comfortable bed. The heating worked great, too. It’s about a ten-minute walk to the tram, which goes straight to Wenceslas Square.

The hotel is clean, and our room turned out better than expected. Breakfast was the weak point: little variety, and they rarely replenished the food. We arrived about an hour before service ended and found no eggs, bacon, or sausages, and none came out later. There was hardly anything for vegetarians or people avoiding gluten either. Still, the hotel was very good overall. It’s outside the tourist areas, with some cheap, good restaurants nearby, so you see more of Prague than just tourist traps. We used Uber, which worked fine, and the old town was about ten minutes away.

The rooms felt fresh and modern, like they’d just been renovated, and the beds were very nice. Breakfast was a bit basic. If you care about good coffee, you’re better off getting it somewhere in the center. I was happy with my stay overall.
