I liked the old-school feel of Hotel Globus, the good value, and the cared-for historic building. The greenery around it and its potential also stood out. Staff helped me switch rooms, which I appreciated, though one of the rooms looked as if someone had recently used it. It would help to check rooms between guest assignments. A few bathrooms could also use fresh shower curtains and a quick grout touch-up. The hotel felt quite focused on rules, so being clear at check-in and following the house processes should be fine. As a solo foreign traveler who was a bit offbeat, I sometimes felt out of place. Still, I enjoyed my stay, slept fine, and would come back. Tighten up the basics and it'll shine.

We came back from breakfast the next day and found that the hinge had come off our door. It had already been broken when we checked in. Afterward, the staff said we had to pay 270 euros, even though the hinge had been damaged from the beginning. They also claimed they'd replaced the door with a new one, but when we checked with the hotel manager, it was the same door with the same cracks. That's not a fair way to handle a problem that was there from the start of our stay.

The area was quiet, and public transport was very close. Parking was free, breakfast had a good variety, and the beds were okay. Hot water was fine, and they changed the towels every day.

The subway is only about 300 m away on foot, and there are plenty of parking spaces. The hotel itself is nice, with good service and a great breakfast.

Our door was very weak. We went in too quickly and accidentally broke the lower hinge, though the middle one was broken too, just less visibly. They accused us of causing the damage and later told us they'd replaced the door while we were out, then said we had to pay 270€. It hadn't been replaced: when it broke, the middle hinge came out and some of the wood fell off. They only repaired it enough for us to sleep one more night. The service was terrible. Nobody spoke English, or they spoke very little, so it was very hard to explain what had happened.
