Miss Sophie's Charles Bridge

The bathroom flooded across the floor whenever we showered or filled the bath, even with the curtain used as directed. Dust was everywhere, the cupboard wallpaper was peeling, and rubbish including used tissues and lighters had been left in the gap beside the fixed bed. Some sockets were loose, and there weren’t any by the bed. The fridge didn’t get cold, and the Wi-Fi was unusable in the bedroom, only working in the hallway in the evenings. When I reported it, the front desk said nobody else had complained, that it was too late to send someone, and that they’d try the next day. They seemed uninterested and unhelpful. The TV only had local channels. Breakfast on our first morning was poor: burnt croissants, very little fresh fruit, no food labels, and we were told we couldn’t use the waffle or pancake machines. The younger woman serving breakfast on Monday and Tuesday was the one bright spot. She was lovely and made us a great breakfast. Arriving didn’t feel welcoming either. There was nobody at reception, and after we waited, a man we thought was another guest checked us in once his colleague showed up. He barely greeted us. At checkout, neither of the two staff members we spoke to asked how the stay had been. It was a cold, disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The view is amazing, and the staff are super nice. Breakfast is on the third floor, where there’s lots of complimentary stuff and you can take whatever you want back to your room. It’s so tasty, too. Honestly, you’d be missing out if you didn’t stay here!

You can walk to all the good attractions from here, and the city view is lovely. We had a rustic apartment with a coffee bar in the room and windows we could open for fresh air. Breakfast was unbelievable, with loads of choices and really healthy food. Booking was easy and the staff were friendly. Best hotel stay ever, highly recommend!

We got free drinks and snacks, a comfy room, and every employee we dealt with was friendly and helpful. They even let us leave our luggage after checkout. The old building can look a little dusty, but the location is perfect and we didn’t need to spend money on transport. I’d stay here again if I come back.
