Hotel Kinsky Fontain

The reception staff were helpful and friendly, and the location was decent. The bed was quite comfortable, and breakfast was pretty good, though the setup was poor and it got very busy. There were stains on the sofa, a bug in the bed, hairs in the bathroom, and a terrible smell in the stairs and corridor. We like quirky hotels, but this one felt badly in need of an update.

The location was good and the price seemed fair, but hot water is a basic need. I only got a slightly warm shower once. Every other time, morning, afternoon, or evening, the water was cold, even when demand should have been low. Staff said the problem affects the whole hotel every day. It ruined the holiday. I’d read reviews mentioning the hot water, but thought it was just occasional. If I’d known it was this bad, I would’ve booked somewhere else. Maybe it’s fine in summer, but not in December.

The building and location are nice, and the price was reasonable. Still, cold water for a bath or shower isn’t acceptable at a four-star hotel. Staff explained that the boiler is old and can’t keep up with demand. Try showering in the morning or evening, during peak hours, and you’ll get cold water. Even in the daytime it’s barely lukewarm. Such a shame.

The location was great and the room was quite nice, but there was no hot water in the shower. If you were lucky, it might get a little warm. I complained twice and both times got the same answer: “Oh yes, no hot water, we’re sorry.” That’s completely unacceptable for a four-star hotel.
