The hotel was clean and the rooms were spacious, in a quiet area that felt almost rural. It was a four-minute walk to a tram that goes to the centre. Those were the positives. My main issue was the service, which turned the stay into a bad experience. The receptionist who checked me in, Monica, or at least that's what the blonde receptionist said her name was, wasn't welcoming. I arrived around 10 in the morning and was told check-in was at 2 PM. When I asked about checking in early, she said it would cost €10 per two hours. I was fine with that, but found it sketchy when she added that she only accepted cash. There was no safe in my room, it was too warm, and sound carried easily. In the mornings I heard footsteps, banging and loud conversations. That could have been a problem if I hadn't gone to bed early each day. The night before leaving, I asked about a late checkout. The night-shift receptionist said I could stay until 1 PM but no later because the room was reserved. At 12:04 PM on checkout day, Monica called and told me to leave. When I reminded her that her colleague had allowed me until 1, she denied it, said it would cost €10, then hung up. Thinking I had until 1, I rushed to shower and pack. As I stepped out of the shower, half naked, the cleaning lady opened the door and kept saying “check out.” I asked for five minutes, got dressed and went to reception to finish checking out. This was a perfect example of unprofessional staff ruining a guest's experience and leading to a bad review and eventually a bad reputation. Hospitality depends on service, and hotels should hold staff responsible for giving guests the best experience possible.
