Motel U Krbu

A few years ago, I arranged a workshop at nearby BIOCEV with Instruct funding. Everyone attending, including the teachers, stayed at this motel and had breakfast and dinner there. Being able to walk to and from BIOCEV was handy for the whole group.

The breakfast was perfectly fine, with bread, cheese, scrambled eggs, sausages, juice and coffee. Nothing fancy, as expected. The rooms seemed clean, though there was a strange smell with a chlorine note. The motel feels a bit in the middle of nowhere, but it works well for a one-night stop while charging an electric car.

I haven't stayed overnight here, but I've been many times, usually while waiting for my EV to charge. The food is better than most, with generous portions, though the prices seem high. I've enjoyed the taste and texture of what I ordered, and takeaway was fresh and nicely packed. They also gave us extra utensils and plenty of tissues. The restaurant looks well kept, but the decor and atmosphere don't have much character. Staff were polite and attentive, though not especially warm or engaging. Coffee and espresso were decent, nothing memorable. In summer, you can sit on the terrace while your car charges, which is nice, but it faces the road and isn't especially peaceful or scenic. There seemed to be overnight guests around, and I could see a breakfast table set up in the distance. My experience has been decent, just not exceptional.

The menu has enough variety, and there's a daily special during the week. The dishes are well made, though this isn't haute cuisine. I come to the restaurant regularly while using the Tesla charger, but I've never stayed at the motel. The staff are friendly and helpful, although during larger events they can seem more nervous. The restrooms are fine unless a big party is going on. One downside for people charging overnight is that the place closes from 23:00 to 7:00, so there are no restrooms available then. I'd recommend it if you're charging or just want a meal.
