Prague Old Town Apartments

The apartments are pleasant, central and affordable. What we didn't expect was the pub in the building's courtyard, with outdoor seating beneath the balconies. It opens after midnight, then fills with people, even on weekdays, who drink and party until 9:30 the next morning. At some point we started wondering if they were vampires, and what jobs let them go out at those hours.

Fono Apartments are clean, modern and right in the heart of Prague, so the location is hard to beat if you want to be close to everything. The trouble is the all-night bar directly below. Patrons make noise late at night, and deliveries arrive early, so a decent night's sleep was nearly impossible. I raised the issue with the accommodation provider and got a response, but it felt like deflection instead of a solution. They basically said the bar wasn't breaking any laws, so there was nothing they could do. That may be true, but it doesn't help guests expecting a quiet stay. The booking description should clearly mention the noise. Light sleepers, or anyone wanting peace, could then decide with that in mind. I would have chosen somewhere else if I'd known. Just a heads-up for future guests: the apartments are great, but be aware of the noise before booking.

The great location and clean, comfortable room couldn't make up for the problems at Blue Apartment. What was shown in the photos and description didn't fully match what we found. There's a bar inside the property, and the noise was extremely loud, far beyond normal, making it very hard to rest, especially at night. The listing says the rooms are soundproof and mentions a coffee area and TV, but those amenities weren't available or usable during my stay. The noise and misleading information really affected the experience. Future guests should be told clearly about these issues.

The location worked well, but two things I hadn't been told about cost it a star: the coffee machine and TV were broken. The bigger issue was Fano Bar downstairs. On working days, it filled up around 5 AM, and people made noise in the courtyard until 9. The old building has almost no soundproofing, so there was no way to shut it out. Someone even smoked by my bedroom window and left cigarette ends in the fruit bowl on the table outside. The bar's noise needs to be managed, or guests should be told publicly that this is a loud place.
