The place had a homely feel and great atmosphere, and that’s the only reason I’m giving it two stars. We had a good time together despite the unpleasant staff. We were university students visiting our friend, who studies in this beautiful city, and hadn’t seen him for months. We were celebrating, drinking beer and singing at the table. We were respectful, kind to the staff, and only ordered one beer each, so we weren’t difficult customers. Our waiter was hostile all night. When I asked where to pay and whether we could pay separately, he rudely waved me away. We waited 20 minutes, then asked another worker because we just wanted to leave. When it was time to pay, the waiter added himself a 20% tip to every payment without asking or telling us. His service wasn’t worth even a 1% tip. When we questioned it, he waved us away again and said it was because paying separately gave him more work. That explanation is unacceptable. We were only there for the weekend and hadn’t harmed anyone, just had fun. We’d heard about tourist traps that take money from foreigners, but didn’t expect a place with such a friendly atmosphere to be one. The staff were so unfriendly that we felt scammed.

I popped in for a quick beer around 7-8pm on a Wednesday. It was pretty quiet then. A pint was the best price in town, the service was quick, and the bathrooms were clean.

The live accordion and folk music were great, and I really liked the atmosphere. The beer was pretty good too, though expensive by Prague standards outside the tourist areas. The food was what I expected, but far too expensive. I feel like there are better ways to spend your money, though finding somewhere cheap or normally priced in the Old Town is hard. We only went to the restaurant.

I went in for one quick beer and a glass of water, and the tall man with glasses who served me insisted I pay in cash even though the door said cards were accepted. That was the first thing that felt shady. When I said I wanted to use my card, he told me to follow him and took me to a back room. Being unable to pay in the restaurant felt very strange. The bill should have been around 100CZK, but it came to 200CZK, as if he’d given himself a 100% tip. I paid without noticing. When I got back to my table after being taken into the restaurant’s dungeons, I heard him laughing with his colleagues, showing them my receipt and mocking me for being scammed and overcharged. It was an awful, disgusting experience and especially unethical behavior toward an 18-year-old on a budget. I would not recommend this place at all unless you want to get scammed.
