Vila Lanna

The shared bathroom and shower setup isn't ideal, since two rooms use one bathroom in the hallway. There was a fair choice of breakfast items, but nothing suitable for vegans. The villa itself has a lovely older, antique feel, and the staff were friendly throughout. It's a very nice, clean place, and I recommend it.

The building felt unique and atmospheric, almost like living in a palace, and the rooms and separate bathrooms were clean. My first room faced the entrance, where cars on the cobblestone road made constant noise. I asked to move and got a quieter room, which was much better. Breakfast wasn't kept fully stocked, and the coffee maker wasn't working. When I asked the receptionist for help, she said, “I'm not a waitress.” She had been fairly nice at other times. I'd give the place 3 out of 5, mostly because of the service. Don't expect high-level service, but with a quiet room, it could still be a special experience.

We only attended a science event here with my partner, so I can't rate the accommodation. The villa's exterior, gardens, and terrace were beautiful. The presentation room was lovely and bright, though the lighting wasn't quite right. The waiting staff were friendly. Downstairs, the toilets looked shabby and old-fashioned.

I come back to this villa three times a year. The historic rooms are beautiful, and sharing a bathroom has never been a problem for me. In summer, the garden is delightful and quiet. My favorite spot is the breakfast room, with its wall-to-wall paintings.
