Hotel Pratol

The rooms are horrible, with cobwebs everywhere, mold and fungus, and hair on the bedding. The place feels like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. It’s completely unsanitary, with problems everywhere. I wouldn’t recommend staying even one night.

The room was dirty and unpleasant to sleep in, and the interior has the feel of a children’s camp. Some rooms smell awful and seem smoky, making it hard to breathe. The shower stall door has fallen off, the carpet is lifting and stained, and the bathroom tiles weren’t laid properly. It’s scary to sleep here.

The staff and housekeeper were very kind and willing to help, though they seemed unable to do much about the problems. Walking safely to the hotel is a concern, since there are no walkways or crosswalks. Inside, the place feels neglected: dirty carpets, worn old furniture, broken blinds, and just one bedside table and lamp for a couple. It’s run-down and shabby, and no one seems to be fixing it. I couldn’t sleep here. The mattress was about one centimeter (half an inch) thick, worse than I imagine prisoners get. Asking for a second mattress shouldn’t be something the owner has to be embarrassed about. If you still want to stay, I strongly suggest asking whether they’ve replaced the mattresses.

The location worked well for me: it’s 10 minutes from the railway station, then a comfortable 30-minute electric train ride to central Prague. The rooms are small and not in good condition. Breakfast is acceptable, but nothing more.
