The mountain setting is beautiful, but the cottage itself was a flea circus. Inside and out, it felt like a tacky antique shop. The showers were a mess: you could get sprayed in the eye or stuck to the curtain, and finding a spot without mold was part of the routine. Maybe that explains how dark it was inside, where you needed a flashlight to see what was in the closet. For amateur electricians, it must be heaven. You could spend the whole week trying to find the end of an extension cord, though doing that in the rain risks getting hurt. The advertised outdoor pool was just a hole in the ground. Worst of all was the owner's attitude, which felt reluctant, arrogant, and self-important. I don't understand how she can charge that much. The online listing made the cottage look beautiful, though that was probably many years ago. The washed-up bourgeois had a very eventful week, and the owner even called us scum 😀
Rain didn't spoil the holiday for us, thanks to the covered terrace, its big table for everyone, and all the different grills, speakers, and other little extras. The cottage also has a lovely view. The outdoor hot tub was a real bonus, with curious cows watching us from nearby. There were a few small "flies," but we were happy with our stay.
The location is great, and the cottage might be beautiful if it still looked like the owner's photos. It didn't when we were there. It was dark, dirty, and full of junk, with cables and extension cords all over the place. The bathrooms were very dirty, the garden hadn't been mowed, and there was no pool, just more cables. The stairs had no railings, which didn't feel safe for children. The worst surprise was the fleas. After four days, when we were all bitten, we realized they were jumping on the sofa and must have been in the rooms and beds too. We bought our own sheets, blankets, and pillows just so we could sleep in the beds and sit on the sofa. The owner's response was that we'd brought the fleas and that it wasn't their fault. That total unwillingness to help rounded off the whole comedy. For 50 TKč a week, it's shameful and disgusting. Be careful. Hopefully they'll clean and disinfect the place, and it can be nice again, but we won't be back.
The mountains and surroundings are lovely, but our stay was let down by the safety issues and the owner's response. There are extension cords plugged in everywhere, connected to each other, and even run outside without proper covers. That made the place especially dangerous in wet weather. The rooms also weren't spacious at all, despite how they look in the photos. Our worst experience was discovering fleas on the living-room sofa. They bit all of us. They might have been left by the previous guest, but when we raised the problem, the owner's response was unacceptable and insulting. We bought new sheets and blankets and left them there for free, then the owner called us social cases. It all comes down to the attitude and whether the listing is honest.
