The guide was really pleasant, and the cave tour is well worth doing. Balcarka Cave has inexpensive tickets, free parking, and not many visitors. Plan on about an hour, though the length can vary with the number of people. Bring a warm layer, especially for kids, and wear shoes with good grip since the many stairs can be wet and slippery. Concrete paths and stainless steel rails run along the route, and bats fly around freely. 👍

The setting is lovely, with plenty of interesting surroundings for walks and some downtime. The spa itself has a classic feel and a bit of First Republic history, while meeting 21st-century standards. The rooms are solid, with a fridge, a spot to make coffee or tea, and the usual TV and bathroom facilities. There’s also a modern health center offering a broad range of spa and rehabilitation treatments. The staff were kind, pleasant, and professional, mostly women, so thanks to all of them. 👍😉🤗💐 As an overnight spa guest on the meal plan with a surcharge, I found the food excellent, and the rest of my table did too. There’s plenty of variety for guests on the meal plan or paying directly, though what works will depend on each person’s dietary needs. The local restaurant has a smaller menu for passersby and people visiting staying guests, but still enough choice, and the refreshments are varied and reasonably priced for a spa. I’d gladly stop in again while traveling or out with friends. I recommend it for a treatment stay or a casual visit, whether you come by bike, on foot, or by car. 👍🩼🧑‍🦽🛀🚴🚶🚙
