V Aleji - ubytování v soukromí

We stayed here during the international summer school of early music. The place was just okay, but the owner was terribly unpleasant. The basement rooms are the main problem: they can’t be aired out and smell terribly musty. Below average, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

There’s a tiny window at pavement level in the room, so you can hear people walking past. The whole place seemed dirty to us, from the kettle and toilet seats to the taps and sinks. The lower rooms had been described as private for our group, but a corridor runs past them to the garden and bike shed. People from the upper accommodation sat there cooking and eating, even though they had everything in their room. We’d come out of the shower to find strangers there, and it felt like the whole house gradually joined in, sometimes even when they were outside the toilet and didn’t want to go upstairs. We told the owner, but she said nobody had ever complained. Maybe nobody had told you honestly, dear lady. The accommodation is right by the train station and close to central Valtice, but that’s about the only upside. The weather was kind, and we really only came to sleep. Never again.

The price seems fairly reasonable, and the upstairs bathroom is good. But the rooms upstairs and downstairs aren’t ventilated at all, and if you leave the door open without a window screen, there are loads of mosquitoes. Upstairs it’s extremely hot around the clock. Downstairs the room is stuffy and stinks; ventilation doesn’t work because there’s only a tiny window, and the kitchenette is in the same situation. The downstairs bathroom is terrible, and so are the toilets. About average overall, as I rated it.

The owner was pleasant, and the price was great for such good accommodation. There’s outdoor seating, a fireplace, and a grill. Really nice, highly recommended.
