Nice host and a pleasant setting, with the center close by. I’d recommend it.

The owners were pleasant, and the rooms and shared areas were kept clean with daily cleaning. The guesthouse is in a quiet spot.

The owner’s strict house rules made us feel like we were intruding in someone’s home for all four nights. We were there with friends in July 2017, and the retro furnishings were just as shown in the photos, so that part didn’t surprise us. From the welcome, when she asked us to unpack our slippers, things felt confusing. She had already paired us into rooms, and when we wanted to stay with our partners, she seemed baffled and said we were making a mess of things. That same misunderstanding hung over the whole stay. We were charged 30 CZK for cleaning up after our own breakfast and for the barbecue dishes. The landlady said we’d waste water, so she preferred to wash them herself. At her request, we left both sets of dishes on the kitchen counter, expecting her to put them in the dishwasher. After the first barbecue, though, she was surprised they were dry and told us to wash them and load the dishwasher next time. When we pointed out that she’d told us otherwise, she said we couldn’t wash the plates properly because they’d still be greasy. After that, we started washing everything in the sink when no one was looking. The family used the kitchen for themselves, so we had to set aside an hour for breakfast and stick to it. We also kept running into the landlady and her husband in the house, which was uncomfortable. The tiny room fridges couldn’t hold the food and drinks we wanted for the barbecue, while the larger kitchen fridge was used by the family. We felt as if our being there got in the way of their daily life. At the entrance, the landlady rearranged our shoes and stood them neatly upright. We were also told we could open or close the garage door only once a day. When we were leaving at 9 a.m., she was already cleaning rooms and chasing after us with belongings we’d left in them, even though our bikes were still on the racks. It’s a family home being rented out as a guesthouse, and the way it’s run didn’t work for us. We travel around the Czech Republic regularly and haven’t had this kind of experience before. If you like a strict regime, this place may suit you. Greetings to Mariánské Lázně.
