OREA Horizont & Spicak - Hotel Spicak

The bar and restaurant only opened at 17:00, so there wasn't a way to get a drink or snack while relaxing on the balcony. That was my one complaint. We stayed four nights in August and loved it. The room was clean and spacious, with a balcony overlooking the forest and great views. It was lovely to sit outside after hiking, and we couldn't hear much from other guests. The bathroom looked a bit old, but it was clean and everything worked. We chose the breakfast and dinner buffet, which was a smart move since there aren't many other places to eat nearby and we didn't want to keep driving. I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian options, and the food quality was fine. We were there during school holidays, so lots of guests had children, but the kids were all very well behaved.

From reception to the restaurant and kids' room, the employees were smiling and the atmosphere felt positive throughout.

The room was decent, but the hotel feels stuck in the 90s and needs renovation. Nobody was at reception on several occasions, and we waited an hour for someone to show up even to check us in. The same woman handled breakfast, dinner, and room cleaning, which seems like too much work for one person.

The setting is lovely, and the hotel meets a good standard. The rooms are a little dated and fairly basic. Both the bar and reception shut early, at 8:30 in the evening.
