Hotel Tomasov

We spent several nights here as part of our IVF package. Dinner was really tasty, and the staff were so kind. Breakfast was a buffet with both sweet and savory treats, a lovely way to start the day. Our bedroom overlooked the forest, and it was cosy, stylish, and very clean. We slept peacefully. Reception were helpful and quick to find solutions when issues came up, and the two massages we had deserve five stars too. The hotel sits on top of a hill, about 1 km from the city center, away from traffic and public transport noise. There are forest trails nearby for a nice walk. We recommend Hotel Tomasov and its services.

The front desk staff are outstanding, very accommodating and quick to respond to requests. But the hotel has gone downhill over my visits. I would have given it five stars in 2017, then four when I returned in September 2019. By January 2020, the dust and broken baseboards were obvious, and housekeeping were obnoxiously loud at 8:00 am. I’ve just come back from Zlin, and if I weren’t attending the clinic attached to the hotel, I’d stay elsewhere. My room had visible mould on the bathroom ceiling and by the entry door, dust throughout, and ants. The restaurant has slipped too, if it’s considered part of the hotel. We used to rave about the scrambled eggs, but this time they looked like slop, liquid egg mixed with some cooked egg. The half-board choices weren’t appetizing. The staff are still very nice and accommodating, but the food isn’t good.

It’s a very clean, modern place, with a stocked mini fridge in the room. The drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, cost extra. The bathroom had the usual toiletries, plus full-size toothbrushes and a small toothpaste. Staff, food, and services were excellent. From the high-up location, you can look over the city if you’re on that side, or toward the forest. It also feels very safe, above the local police station. The town is an easy walk downhill, though you may want a cab for the trip back up. Shops, restaurants, and a pharmacy are nearby for any bits and pieces you forgot.

The hotel includes a spa, and the food was healthy. I found it relaxing, with friendly staff. In the foyer, fascinating pictures tell the building’s story as a college for Butlers (Majordomo). The view over Zlin is lovely, and there are forest walks behind the hotel that are especially nice in autumn.
