The spa was a lovely surprise: there’s a sauna, a comfortable room to relax in, a hot tub, and a swimming pool. Breakfast was plentiful, and the rooms were nice and clean, with basic amenities. Most have a balcony. Hotel Schaider is in the charming little village of Ainring, near the Austrian border, and there's free parking right at the hotel. Reception is open until 8 p.m.; the friendly staff speak English well. It’s handy for highway A8 and Bad Reichenhall. Ainring train station is about 2 km away, with a connection to Salzburg city center via Freilassing, and driving into Salzburg is easy too. The nearest grocery store is about 1 km away. The neighboring Hotel Ruperthihof serves from its kitchen until around 10 p.m., and its bar stays open later. A very good option if you're traveling by car.

After coming and going from Hotel Schaider for a few years, I can say that being here feels like coming home. The rooms are really comfortable and well appointed, especially since the recent renovation. Breakfast is great, and the staff are lovely and friendly. If you're in this area, stay here.

The staff were so warm and kind, and they gave us lots of good ideas for things to do nearby. Our room had a beautiful mountain view and was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool and sauna, and breakfast was very tasty with lots of options. I loved staying here and would definitely recommend it. I hope to return!

We stayed in the Standard Double Room during summer, and the night was unbearable. The room was stifling, with barely any air, and the temperature between the floor and the room was about 15 degrees apart, which made it very uncomfortable. A small window and tiny fan did little to help. Even after two cold showers, we couldn't sleep. It was a disappointing stay, and I hope the hotel addresses this for future guests. Breakfast was good, and the owner and staff were very friendly.

A lovely family-run hotel with wonderful, attentive staff. They recommended somewhere to eat in Salzburg, and it turned out to be wonderful.
