We found the apartment a relaxing place to return to after winery visits or walks around the village, and we plan to stay there again. It sits beside the original hotel and is within walking distance of a 24-hour supermarket and plenty of restaurants, including one with a Michelin star. The standard room worked well for two adults and two small children. It was clean and sensibly laid out, with a comfortable double bed, a double sofa bed, a well-equipped kitchen, a decent-sized fridge, and lots of storage. Check-in is through a machine. We hardly needed to contact staff, but when we did, they were responsive and helpful. The village is still recovering from a recent flood, and the resilience and energy of the community are clear.

Rudi went far beyond what we could have hoped for when our car broke down in about 40-degree heat, roughly 20 minutes from Altenahr. We were stranded at a rest stop with our two stressed dogs, and I messaged him to say we'd be late. He offered to come get us. While my husband stayed with the tow truck, Rudi loaded our luggage, drove us safely to the hotel, carried everything up three flights of stairs, and had the air conditioning on in the apartment. There were even beers waiting in the fridge. We’re still so grateful. We’d loved the Premium Apartment at Hotel Lang the year before and had stopped there again on our way south to Bavaria. Even after that stressful start, we had a lovely time and the apartment was great. We’ll definitely return. Claudia & Kees

I showed up late after another hotel had lost my reservation, and the staff here were really helpful about it. The room was nice, with a fridge and safe, the beds were comfortable, and the shower was great. The internet could be better, though this is such a good area to explore that I’m not sure why you’d spend much time in the room. The rates were reasonable and breakfast was included. I forgot about it, but the front desk called and kept it out for me a little later. Both clerks spoke English very well. I’ve had a great stay so far.

For a night or two in Altenahr, this is the hotel I'd pick. The rooms are modern, breakfast is excellent, and the staff are so friendly and willing to go the extra mile. Dogs are welcome too. There's a pleasant sitting area where you can get tasty Flammkuchen, wine, beer, cocktails, and even ice cream.
