Breakfast was a real highlight, with a great choice, and the owner was very friendly and helpful. It's also a wonderful area for hiking. This is our first visit to Villa Märchenland near Altenberg, and we're staying a few days. The villa dates from the last century, and its mix of old and new furnishings works well. It sits at the edge of the forest, although a busy road is nearby. Nights are definitely quieter. Light sleepers might want earplugs and a sleep mask. The sauna costs extra, and there are no loungers.

Everything was spotlessly clean, and the hosts were very good and friendly. The accommodation feels like something out of a fairytale. The food was good, though on the expensive side.

The neighborhood is quiet, with lots of nice places to see nearby. The place itself is clean and pleasant, and the service is friendly. I'd recommend visiting any time of year, it's really worth it.

We were really happy with our stay, and I'd recommend the hotel. Three generations of our family spent a weekend here, and the family running it were warm and attentive. When disagreements came up with other guests, they handled them firmly but politely, which we appreciated. Breakfast was fantastic, with a good selection that didn't feel overwhelming. We were out and about a lot, so it wasn't an issue that breakfast was the only meal offered. The coffee was excellent, and even the cheeky requests from our 3-year-old guests were met after checking with their parents. Our rooms were clean. The showers worked fine for me, and I'm not exactly slim. Each of our four rooms had a travel hairdryer, and extra blankets were in the closets. Our little one could choose between a travel cot and a regular bed. Thanks again!

In spring, Eiskönig greeted us with the same cool manner as usual. The room was just average, and the shower opening was so narrow that only children could get through easily. The restaurant was closed in summer, so we had to eat at Hotel Riedelmühle. You can check in there directly, since it is cheaper and the staff are friendlier. You couldn't even buy drinks at this guesthouse. Breakfast was average too.
