I had a great stay in this classic hotel right by the small railway station. My room must have been one of the most spacious in the building, and the reception was cheerful and no-nonsense. The breakfast buffet was good, as was the restaurant. The hotel opened as a hotel and restaurant in March 1899, and has remained so ever since. Its station-side location was a strategic choice to draw the growing number of tourists coming to the Wingst region by the new rail links. It also became a cultural hub in the 1920s and 1930s. Painter Mario Oehlschläger moved to the area in 1927 and often visited; the “Oehlschläger Stube” is named after him.

The food was top-notch, and the hostesses were so kind and welcoming. The staff made the service wonderful from beginning to end. An incredible restaurant and a real hidden gem 💎 Thanks for a lovely dinner!

The hotel is recommendable for its price. Breakfast is good and the people are nice. The restaurant, “Geschmack Sache“, was a different story. I couldn’t eat the dish called bolognese, but they didn’t replace it, and I still had to pay. It spoiled the evening, especially since there aren’t many other places to eat nearby. The bolognese with Spätzle is also super expensive. I recommend the hotel, but not the restaurant.

It’s a peaceful place that looks good, and the breakfast was lovely with a nice variety of meat spreads. Still, cleanliness was a letdown. Our room was okay, but at breakfast the plates looked dirty and felt sticky, and there were flies. One even got into the coffee milk.

Our family weekend at peters_genusshotel in der Wingst was relaxed, personal, and inspiring. The whole team made us feel at home and took such good care of us in this beautiful historic hotel. We felt really spoilt by the creative food, which was more than excellent, and appreciated the attention to detail everywhere, including the focus on sustainability. The landscape is beautiful, and the Wattenmeer, UNESCO World heritage area, is nearby. A place to find peace of mind.
