Breakfast was okay and the rooms were clean, though they felt a bit old-fashioned. The restaurant was the real disappointment. Prices were far too high for convenience products, and with just six main courses on the menu, I expected more, especially from a place advertised as offering “gourmet delights.” The food seemed deliberate but not skillfully made, with little attention to detail or real cooking craft and passion. Such a pity after the great renovation. The staff were friendly, but at times seemed awkward and lost, perhaps apprentices left to manage on their own.

The hallway had a hospital deodorant smell, and the carpet looked ancient. The breakfast buffet was nothing special either, and my wife was miffed there weren’t any croissants. On the plus side, the bed was clean and comfortable, the bathroom had been newly refurbished in a modern style, and there was a hand towel for each bed, which was helpful since the kids shared our room. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel’s food and services were top level. It’s also a great base for walking around Apolda, and worked well for an overnight stay or a few nights, whether on a business trip or a private journey. I’d recommend it to anyone.

The bed felt like a cloud, and it was so quiet I slept like a baby. Breakfast was huge, tasty, and had plenty of choice. Prices were really good too. A great place to stay.

The hotel was nice and breakfast was good. The one downside is the 10pm curfew. If you're sitting outside after that, you have to move into the bar, even on a bright, warm, sunny summer evening.
