Hotel Miramar

The hotel is near the bus station, and the central station (HBF) is 10min away by bus. It’s a lovely little boutique place close to good restaurants and views of Hamburg. The staff lady was friendly and very helpful. The room was nicely decorated, but a bit small. That wasn’t an issue for me alone, though two people would feel cramped. The bathroom was small as well. They told me on check-in day that reception would close by 18:00, so make sure to let them know when you’ll arrive. Breakfast had very limited options and could be better.

The family who run this small hotel are very nice. Our room was large, comfortable, warm, and clean, and there’s a nice little breakfast room. We had a fantastic four-night stay here in November 2023. Great location, with a few decent restaurants nearby.

I had a huge private patio looking out over a garden, which more than made up for the small room. I was travelling alone, but two people would find the room tight. The staff lady was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is close to great restaurants and Hamburg views. Breakfast was delicious and served on fine China dishes. The bed sheets felt a little rough, which is why I’m not giving five stars. It’s a beautiful little boutique hotel, and I’d come back.

They were wonderful about communicating before we arrived, with written confirmations, and coordinating with the other couple we were travelling with from another US city. We stayed twice, once at Hotel Miramar and once at Hotel Mare, before and after our cruise. Each time they waited two hours after closing to welcome us and get us settled. The rooms were clean and the location was handy for shops and restaurants. Breakfast espresso was delicious. They went out of their way with taxis, directions, and luggage, and even packed us lunch for the plane when they learned we’d be leaving before breakfast. Special thanks for arranging early morning access to our room when I’d left something behind. Highly recommend.
