Holiday Inn - the niu, Bricks Hamburg by IHG

The staff were friendly and professional, and I especially appreciated the Argentine woman in the dining area and her colleagues. She went out of her way to help me sort out my issue even though she didn't have to, and I'm grateful for her kindness and support. The hotel lived up to and even exceeded my expectations. Its location is perfect, just a stone's throw from the airport, with easy access to the city center.

A good budget option, with cool decor, within walking distance of the UKE. The room was clean and breakfast was decent. WiFi was the letdown: it was so slow that I couldn't stay in a Zoom meeting without lag and interruptions, so I had to use my phone as a hotspot.

The room was okay, small but equipped with the essentials. The hotel is freshly built and showed no signs of wear, though the bedside table wasn't very clean. For the location, the price felt a bit high. Breakfast cost 10 euros and was a whole process. You have to pick a 45-minute time slot and stick to it, then queue to get a seat. If you're alone, you wait longer for a small table to become free, and you can't choose where to sit. Once seated, the breakfast is very average for this price-quality range. The leaf tea selection was the one standout, something that's hard to find these days. Customer service felt lacking elsewhere too. I stood in the check-in line for 15 minutes because there was just one hotel representative for the whole floor. I don't mind dogs at a hotel, but the space is limited, and dogs barking at each other, along with falling fur and other hygiene issues, made the breakfast area feel inconsiderate for them. I left feeling patronized, like I'd been through a kindergarten breakfast at camp, and was glad to check out.

We had a nice stay overall, and I'd recommend the place. Getting there was easy, the location was decent, and our room felt new, fresh, clean, comfortable, and quiet. It had no fridge, which was a minus. The breakfast itself was good quality, though they were often out of things like bread. The organization and information around it were poor. We booked a breakfast time at reception each day for the following morning, yet on two separate occasions staff told us we had no table booked. We got breakfast both times, but the repeated mix-ups and lack of clear information affected our experience negatively. It also seemed the staff didn't know what guests had been told. Service was good otherwise.
