Hotel Prox

We used this as a stop on the way to southern Poland, and its location worked for that. The room and bathroom were clean, with gel soap provided, and breakfast was included. It was a standard continental spread, nothing worth writing home about. Towels were small and didn’t absorb much after a shower. The room itself was acceptable, but I only got to see the view in the morning as I was leaving. We arrived around 5pm on a Sunday, and there was no staff on site, just a code for the key safe and my room key. Wi-Fi was advertised, but after many attempts on my phone, tablet, and laptop, neither connection or password worked. I can only assume the router was turned off when the office closed. That was annoying after a long drive from the Calais ferry and the UK, especially as I had several things to do. I’d been told by email before leaving that the restaurant wasn’t open. Driving around town, we found a pizza and kebab place that actually had nice pizza. The receptionist was very nice and polite, though, as is often the case at out-of-the-way country hotels, there was little to no English. I thought it was a little expensive, especially after driving some way off the autobahn to stop. I’ve had better value for less money, and I don’t think I’ll stay here on the way home. Maybe I’ll look at Erfurt instead. Since you pay by the room, it probably makes more sense for two people or a family with children.

The hotel is on a main road, but the rooms weren’t noisy, and there’s plenty of parking. The rooms were good, breakfast was nice, and the price was reasonable.

Just one night for work. Nice people and good service, perfect.

The food was good and cheap, and the staff were very nice. It’s old but clean. The heating gets switched on too late.
