Once I finally got into the room, it was nice, modern, and had a noisy fan instead of AC. The carpet in the entrance hall felt like a death trap, and the reception desk seems to exist only for the photos on booking.com. This isn’t a hotel, more like an Airbnb at best. Getting inside was a whole escape game. I called the “reception” on the way, but the woman thought I’d already checked in and couldn’t tell me how to reach the front door. She said “google it.” At the door, I found a piece of paper stuck to the glass with local numbers to call for the “codes.” An unhappy customer let us in and told us what to do, saying he regretted booking. I was already regretting it too. I called the number, lucky I had a local SIM, and the same woman answered, sounding a bit stressed that I was calling again. She explained the system and gave me a code for box number 3. Inside were two cards for room number 4. Awesome system. It wasn’t our first choice anyway. I wondered why this was the only hotel with a vacancy. Now I know, and you should too.

The room was clean, but staying in one of the rooms on the grounds was a horrific experience. People knocked on my window all night, and there was nobody at reception. When I called, no one could really help, so I barely slept. I mentioned it at checkout in the morning, but wasn’t offered any compensation. I wouldn’t recommend staying there.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Aschaffenburg on business trips and tried more than a handful of hotels. This is the best one in town, and it’s in my personal Top 5 places I’ve stayed in Germany so far. Everything is brand new, the staff are lovely, and there are fresh fruits and drinks every day. It’s very central, with restaurants and shops within walking distance, plus free parking. My place to stay in Aschaffenburg!

I always stay here when I’m in Aschaffenburg. It’s clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and there’s free parking. Nice restaurants and the castle are close by. There’s no breakfast, though.
