Waldhotel Zöbischhaus

From our balcony we could watch the sun come up over the trees, with deer and even a fox crossing the meadow toward the forest. That was lovely. The service felt honest and friendly, and it was easy to unwind here. I hope the hotel stays open for years, because we'll definitely return. It's a quiet little hotel with an old-fashioned feel, and we really liked that. Everything was clean and tidy, which is all we need to feel comfortable. The water takes a while to heat up, but we're used to that back home in our village. The heating warmed up quickly. The food was excellent, with generous portions. I'm from Plauen, and whenever I'm back in the Vogtland region I'm happy to have Bambes again. They're especially good here.

The breakfast table was beautifully laid out each morning, and the whole house felt welcoming, with space to relax and spend time together. Our three-year-old daughters could move about freely and act their age. All three rooms we booked were clean, and the property was well kept. We were welcomed so warmly, we'd love to come back. The hospitality deserves ten stars.

The food was outstanding, tasty home cooking just like Mom used to make. And the location, deep in the forest, is great if you want quiet and hiking. The building itself is an old holiday home dating from the GDR era. I booked a balcony room through Booking.com, but was given a room without a balcony and wasn't told in advance. The shower stayed cold for a long time. Reception turned on the hot water after I called, and I could finally shower after letting it run for 15 minutes. Really environmentally friendly. At €75.00, these rooms are far too expensive. I got a receipt, but when I asked for an invoice with the company address and other details, they said they'd email it within a few days. Fourteen days later, despite following up, I still haven't received it.

Breakfast was good, with plenty of choices, and you could ask for anything you needed. The rooms were clean and fairly modern, though the accommodation feels a bit dated and the outside could use some care. The grounds need work too. We only saw the owner at check-in, and would have liked a little more interaction. It's a shame to think the property might no longer be used. If you're after quiet and don't want much interaction, this place suits you well.
