Altstadthotel Augsburg

The location was great, and the staff were so friendly. The place is a little dated, but it’s quirky and clean. When the breakfast room filled up, we had to move to another room, and three staff members carried our plates and food over and helped get us settled.

The central location is the main upside, though it cost me a lot of time in traffic because my office was out in the industrial area. For an old, classic-style hotel, you really have to be a fan of that kind of place. It was noisy, with old wooden windows and floors, and the curtains let in plenty of light by 6 a.m. in July. It wasn’t very clean, the bed was okay, and breakfast was poor by modern standards. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. Paid street parking was very hard to find. It was far too expensive for what you get.

Right in the middle of the city, with comfortable, great rooms and kind service in the morning. It’s a very nice place if you’re looking for a low price. If you don’t have hundreds of euros to spend, I definitely recommend it.

Augsburg is a wonderful city, but our stay at this hotel was a nightmare. We told the female manager about the noise and behavior of a drunk guest the previous night, who had shouted at our child. She shouted at my wife and physically pushed her in front of our child. When we asked her to stop, she practically kicked us and the children out onto the street in the rain, because we had asked for a discount for the previous night. Please avoid this horrible place.
