Bacharach is really quiet, and the food places close around 19:00 while the bars stop serving drinks at about 22:00. Be sure to get out and walk around during the day. The place itself is nice, but there's no food service unless you ask for it.

I stayed one night while cycling the Rhine route. The owner went out of his way to help and locked my bike in his garage overnight. My room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet had a normal spread with plenty to choose from. The town is stunning, about a five-minute walk away. I really enjoyed the stay!

I never write reviews, but this stay was so memorable I couldn't help it. I was backpacking through Europe in 2015 and stayed here on my Rhine trip. I found the place through Rick Steves' "Best of Europe" book. Sybille and Stefan were wonderful to visit with and very hospitable. My room was clean and quiet, and breakfast was good all three days. Before leaving the States, I had to order train reservations at the last minute and wouldn't be home to receive them. I emailed Sybille to ask if I could send them to her, and she agreed right away. She let me know when they arrived, then handed me my tickets as soon as I got there 25 days later. I'll absolutely stay here on my next trip, and highly recommend it over anywhere else along this stretch of the Rhine!

The room and bed were comfortable, and the owner and operator was very pleasant and welcoming. The balcony was a relaxing extra. There's plenty of short and long walks nearby, and bike rental is a 15 minute walk from Winzerhaas. It's a slightly uphill walk of 15 minutes from the train station, though you could take a taxi.

The owner's there to greet you, and the white lettering makes the place easy to spot when you arrive. It has covered private parking and is accessible for people with mobility impairments. Our family room had a TV in each room, decent linen, and Haribo on the pillows, a funny touch. There was a second sink in the kids' room, a clean shower and bathroom with a few guest supplies, plus a coffee and tea tray. Dogs are welcome too. The large balcony has double doors, so keep an eye on children who might open them. Breakfast was decent, with fruit, yogurts, and rolls. Bacharach downtown is about a five-minute walk. Traffic can be dangerous, especially at night, when some drivers go fast and may not see you in time. The Wi-Fi password was hard to find. It was on a tiny, gum-wrapper-sized paper in front of the TV. A larger note on a mirror or cabinet would help, since internet can be difficult in the area. Also, check the toast before serving. Mine had mold. One concern: the rooms had no fire warning system, and there were no fire escape stairs. The ceilings and everything else are wooden, so this needs improvement. There was a seating area below my balcony, where two elderly men were speaking softly. I could barely hear them from above, but a neighbor across the street came out with a large flashlight, shone it at them, and rudely yelled that people had to work in the morning, telling them to shut up and leave. I was puzzled by how rude he was. It was 21:50 during high season, and their voices were barely above a whisper. Best not to talk outside the hotel after 21:00, whether in the seating area or on the balcony. All told, it's a good place with fresh, clean rooms, a friendly owner, a clean bathroom with a hairdryer and guest supplies, and a short walk to downtown Bacharach. It could be excellent if the issues above were addressed.
