Zollhaus

The cakes were delicious, with a good selection, and the atmosphere was really pleasant. Service was pretty quick, though the staff seemed overwhelmed and a bit directionless. We only got the rest of our order after asking. Maybe they need time to find their rhythm, since the place only opened recently. Parking right there is very limited, but there's a larger lot about a five-minute walk away. A small grassy parking area has since opened right beside the café.

We went for dinner on someone's recommendation and left happy. Everything was excellent. Too bad you can't have it all in sequence, ice cream, cake, and then dinner.

There's plenty of choice on the snack menu, with tasty things for both bigger and smaller appetites. The ice cream and cakes were especially good, and the service was friendly, though the internal organization could be better. This recently opened café and bistro has a lovely setting right by the Czech border. Walkers, cyclists, and drivers can all get there easily. It's about a half-hour walk from the center of Bad Elster. A great place to stop, and I'd be happy to return.

The modern decor is nice, and the cake and ice cream are pretty good. The staff all came across as unfriendly and bored, even though they were trying their best.
