Motel One Berlin-Alexanderplatz

You couldn’t ask for a better spot at Alexanderplatz. The rooms are spotless, and the room staff clean so efficiently and are always keen to help. Reception staff speak very good English, which is a big help if your German is limited. I didn’t have breakfast here this time, but there seem to be lots of choices if you’re up early enough. Don’t miss the sweets in the big glass jar at reception, a small touch I love. Register on their website for a 10% discount and a complimentary bottle of water.

The price was very reasonable, and I’d come back for the location and the view. I was on the 17th floor, looking out over the TV tower, and the staff were friendly and spoke English. The room stayed quiet at night. The bed was comfortable for one, but the room feels too small for two: the bed would be a bit cramped, there’s only one seat, and there’s no space for two suitcases. The shower had an annoying burst of very hot water about every 30 seconds. Otherwise, the room is basic, with no mini fridge, closet space, kettle, coffee machine, or desk. I was fine with that given the value.

The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re spacious enough, especially for the price. Staff were incredibly attentive while we were there. The bars on site had a good selection and were actually cheaper than places out and about. The rooftop bar is a nice touch. I’d absolutely recommend it and will consider Motel one again.

We loved relaxing at the rooftop bar on the 18th floor, with its lovely view. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the view from it was amazing too. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Everything was great!
