Best Western Premier Park Hotel and Spa

We booked this for our first anniversary, and the room was lovely and clean. The hotel was above what I'd expect from a four-star place, and it was quiet. Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh oranges to press, honeycomb, great coffee from a machine, and plenty of delicious food. We skipped the sauna area because the saunas are unclothed, which isn't our thing. What soured the stay was the man at reception. I booked an offer on the hotel's website after finding it through Google Travel, and the reservation clearly said half board, including dinner as well as breakfast. I showed him the booking details, but he kept insisting half board wasn't included. I chose the hotel partly because of that offer. A written agreement should be honored. Glitches can happen, but I would have liked the hotel to accept some responsibility. We went elsewhere for dinner, and the whole thing left a bad taste after an otherwise very nice stay.

The gardens are pleasant to walk through, and our room was spacious, clean and practical. The hotel sits in a quiet neighborhood, though inside you can easily hear noise from nearby rooms. Breakfast food took a while to be replenished, and the coffee machine sometimes served cold coffee. The restaurant was overpriced for food that was only a little above average. Parking costs €8.50 a night, which feels like a money-making scheme. I could understand a fee in a busy area with little nearby parking and secured barriers, but you can park free on the street here. The stay was okay, though I've had much better Best Westerns.

The spa was the standout, with a comfortable setting, well-arranged places to rest, nice saunas, a jacuzzi and a nature pool. It wasn't too big or too small. We stayed two nights on a spa package, and the hotel and our room in Villa Anna were fine. Breakfast had a good setup and lots of food; dinner was average, though the service was fine. The stay would have been perfect if the staff had been friendlier and more approachable, as they came across as rather cold.

It really lives up to what you'd expect of a 4-star hotel. Amazing place.
